Sangeeth Sugathan

Sangeeth is a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Jyväskylä, whose work explores the intersections of labour relations, international migration, the platform economy, and welfare state regimes in Europe. As part of the TAIMI project, he contributes to Work Package 1, with a particular focus on on-demand transportation and the changing dynamics of platform-mediated work.
With a broader background in development research and practice across India and South Asia, Sangeeth has worked extensively on issues related to labour, internal migration, and rural development. His research combines academic inquiry with policy and field-based perspectives, reflecting a sustained engagement with questions of social justice, mobility, and workers’ rights.
Sangeeth has contributed to scholarly discussions through publications including a paper in the Journal of Gender and Development and a book chapter in the India Migration Report. In addition to academic work, [his/her/their] contributions to public discourse have been recognised through a nomination for the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism.
