Päivi Heikkilä



Päivi Heikkilä is a Senior Scientist at VTT, where she works on human-driven design and human-technology interaction.

She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology and a PhD in User Experience. Her research focuses on design research studies of digital solutions that support wellbeing in evolving work environments. Päivi’s work emphasizes understanding user needs, designing positive user experiences, and advancing ethics-aware design practices for emerging technologies, including AI-based solutions.

She has extensive experience in studying how digital tools can be developed in inclusive and responsible ways to better support diverse users. Within the TAIMI project, Päivi leads and conducts research in Work Package 5 (WP5). Her particular interests include the digital needs of migrant workers and the development of positive, inclusive design approaches for novel AI-based technologies that promote wellbeing and inclusion at work.
