TAIMI researcher Hilla Back contributes to diversity and inclusion teaching session with Rovio
On 16 March 2026, Hilla Back, researcher in the TAIMI (Technological Transformation, AI and Migrant Skills in the Finnish Labour Market) project, took part in a joint teaching session on diversity and inclusion together with Rovio in Otaniemi, Finland.
The session provided an opportunity to connect current research with organizational practice by exploring how inclusive workplace cultures can be strengthened through everyday collaboration, leadership, and organizational learning.

Advancing DEI skills through research
Within the TAIMI project, Hilla Back is a researcher in Work Package 4 (WP4), which examines how Diversity, Equity and Inclusion can be developed as a practical and scalable set of competencies for individuals, organizations, and society. The research also investigates how hybrid work and emerging AI technologies are reshaping collaboration and what this means for creating more equitable and inclusive workplaces.
The collaboration with Rovio reflects TAIMI’s commitment to engaging with organizations where international and multidisciplinary teams are central to everyday work. These exchanges allow researchers to discuss emerging evidence with practitioners while gaining valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges organizations face in building inclusive work environments.
Strengthening dialogue between academia and industry
Partnerships with organizations play an important role in TAIMI’s approach to research impact. Rather than viewing organizations solely as research sites, the project promotes ongoing dialogue that enables mutual learning between researchers and practitioners.
Teaching sessions such as this contribute to that exchange by sharing research-based perspectives on inclusion while encouraging discussion around practical experiences, organizational development, and future workplace needs.
Through collaborations across academia, industry, and the public sector, TAIMI seeks to generate knowledge that supports more inclusive working life, strengthens organizational capabilities, and contributes to a more sustainable Finnish labour market.
